Student Stories - PhD
Ram Ramachandran | PhD Candidate from the United States
My due diligence before selecting ISM included talking to several alumni and current students. There was a resounding endorsement for the program curriculum and faculty members. Since joining my PhD program, I have found the validations to be absolutely true. ISM administration ensured that the onboarding process was smooth and were easily accessible to answer any questions. I am confident that I have made the right choice in selecting ISM.
ISM's ability to pivot and focus on topical areas of research is a boon for working professionals. After thirty-five years in the management consulting profession, I have started my second career in the academic sector as a faculty and administrator. It was important for me to work with advisors who understood the relevance of interdisciplinary areas, such as blockchain and entrepreneurship, on the future of education and economy. Learning from faculty members who are experts in the field ensures a rich learning experience as well.
I have taken several courses in the last six months and found each one of them to be intellectually stimulating and academically challenging. Learning with professionals from all over the world provided an entirely new perspective on life and business. In a class on Business Ethics and Leadership taught by French Professor Linda Benrais, we had students from Asia, the US, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The colorful roleplays and heated discussions brought out the diverse perspectives.
The things I have enjoyed most about studying in Paris include several evenings walking the city with my fellow students and experiencing Paris like a local. Amazing camaraderie. Social evenings, French wine, and the morning croissants have made it worthwhile!
