Student Stories - PhD
Barbara Strother | PhD Alumnus from the US
Between my teaching schedule with both daytime and evening classes, my family, and the frequent travel I do leading study abroad programs, I needed a PhD program with maximum flexibility. Living in Los Angeles, of course I had plenty of schools I could choose from. But it was a much better use of my time to fly to classes every couple months and finish the coursework from home than to spend time on the L.A. freeways driving to classes several days per week. ISM fit my schedule perfectly. I chose ISM for its flexibility, but I was unexpectedly delighted by how the diversity of the participants enhanced the learning experience. What better way to study cross-cultural negotiation than through classroom simulations that include students from every corner of the globe? It makes perfect sense for an International Business program to be designed in a way that allows people from all over the world to come together in the classroom, and for those classrooms to be located in a variety of nations. Though a PhD program is an investment, I believe the ISM program is worth every penny.
